HRCM Resoponds to Action Plan of TakeCare

Human Rights Commission of the Maldives has responded to the action plan of TakeCare.

In an email sent on May 5, 2010, to TakeCare, Human Rights Commission have expressed their interest and support
for the collaborative activities stated in the action plan.

Following is an excerpt from the email.

"Take Care’s request was discussed at the Commission meeting held on 3rd April 2010. Following are outcomes from this meeting:-

1.      Human Rights Commission appreciates the initiative taken by Take Care to incorporate Human Rights as  a focus area in the organization’s Annual Work Plan.

2.      HRCM will support the implementation of the 3 day training camp on human rights (human rights and fundamental freedoms stated in the constitution) to 50 students from secondary school in Addu Atoll by providing a facilitator for the camp.

3.      HRCM will accept the wining essays on human rights for publication in the Haqqu newsletter."

 
 It further welcomed the concept of establishing intermediary body in Addu proposed by TakeCare and stated that the request proposed by TakeCare will be taken into consideration.
