06- Aug TakeCare registered at Ministry of Home Affairs. 07-August-2008 On August 7th TakeCare commenced the work of recruiting members. It has been an ongoing process since then. 08-Nov-08 Leaflet Awareness Program on melamine contamination Due to inadequate efforts by the responsible authorities such as Public Health Division of Hithadhoo Regional Hospital, TakeCare took the initiative of creating awareness among the people about melamine containing products. TakeCares volunteers visited local shops to look for melamine contaminated products. Cost: Mrf 2200/- 24-Nov-08 Began PSII Kickoff Tournament. PSII KickOff is a playsation soccer competition aimed to enhance unity amoung the youths of Addu. Winners were awarded with cash prizes. First prize was worth MRF 3500, while the second prize was of MRF 1500 and the third prize was worth MRF 500. TakeCare plans to make the PSII Kickoff Tournament an annual event. PSII is an annually he play station competition, aimed at enhancing unity among youths of Hithadhoo. Including the cash prizes and setup cost and event organistaion, PSII Kickoff MRF 10000 was spent on PSII Kickoff Tournament. 25- Nov -08 A Petition demanding the government to enhance its role in the development of the islands of AdduAtoll was prepared. TakeCare’s aim’s to get 3000 signatures for this petition. 26-Nov - 08 Commenced the work of surveying; sports & health sector in Addu 03- Dec - 08 PS II Kick Off closing ceremony. Cheques were awarded to winners.the first prize was handed over by our sponsor Ahmed Zahir and the second prize was handed over by the marketing manager of Dhiraagu while the third prize was given by Mr. Shuaau Afeef. 12-Dec -08 Fishermen Dinner Night. A dinner night was held by TakeCare at Muhibbuddin School to honor the brave men and women working in the fisheries industry. The main aim of conducting this on 10th December was to build a rapport between youths and fishermen, thus encouraging youths in joining the fisheries industry. Youths and about 50 fishermen were present in this ceremony. The cash prizes were handed over to the PSII winners by the 3 fishermen on that night. 18- Dec -08 Meeting with the members of Human Rights Commission of Maldives. Human Rights Commision on its visit to Addu to mark the Human Rights Day, sat with the founder members of TakeCare to discuss and organize the celebration of Human Rights Day at Addu. TakeCare offered its full spport and commitment to coordinate with HRC in order to make HRC program a success. 20-Dec -08 Take Care founder member addressed the nation on behalf of all NGOS, at the meeting conducted to celebrate Human Rights Day. 20-Dec -08 Participated in organising HRD Children’s festival in Hithadhoo. |
