The 3 Day Awareness and Capacity building workshop on Human Rights and Good Governance for NGOS, a component of UNDP funded project Right to Empower, is scheduled to take place from September 15, 2011 to September 17, 2011.
The main objectives of this workhsop is to build the the capacity of ngos in protecting, promoting, monitoring and reporting Human Rights enshrined in the new constitution and the Universal Declaration of Human Right. In addition, through this project, the participating NGOs will be made familiar to integrate Human Rights Based Approach into their works. Furthermore NGOS will be educated on holding the duty bearers accountable through Human Rights and Good Governance. |

Introduction: To strengthen the NGO with their efforts in community development and enhancing the social capital of Addu we believe in the important role of a NGO Network. As a part of TakeCare’s project “The Right to Empower” funded by UNDP Maldives we will be establishing a NGO Network in Addu. The NGO Network will constitute of the membership of legally registered non-governmental organizations of Addu City. We believe, once established the NGO network will provide the member NGOs with the following benefits: - Increased Credibility of member organizations.
- Increased Legitimacy of member organizations.
- Increased Access to information, expertise, financial resources, open space of dialogue, analysis and information exchange etc within the network.
- Consultation and counseling possibilities among members
- Increased Efficiency of the NGO activities through sharing or resources and knowledge and partnering.
- Increased opportunities to coordinate and organize joint projects, programs and activities.

NGO Organisational Capacity Buidling Workshop Complete |

NGO organizational capacity building workshop, the first component of "Right to Empower" project funded by UNDP was successfully completed from April 7-9, 2011.
The workshop was held at Addu High School. A total of 13 NGOs from Addu City participated in the workshop and contributed positively to the success of the workshop. An educational and interactive atmosphere was observed in all the sessions of the workshop.
The facilitators of the workshops were experts in their fields and they were invited by TakeCare to deliver the participants with an in-dpeth coverage of their assigned sessions. Mr Ahmed Fayaz Hassan (the current vice president of Election Commssion of Maldives) took the inspirational session on personal leadership, while Dr Simadh Saeedh delivered a highly informative and productive session on Technical Resource Development of NGOs. The session on NGO management was conducted by Mohamed Ushau from TakeCare and the fourth and last session on NGO advocacy on decentralized governance was facilitated by Aiman Rasheedh of Transparency Maldives.

Takecare has met with Hulhumeedhoo NGOs on February 15, 2011.
The meeting took place in Hulhumeedhoo Social Centre and was a part of the preparation work currently been done by TakeCare prior to the kick off of UNDP funded project, "Right to Empower". |

A meeting with NGOs of Addu was held on the evening of February 12, 2011, to identify interested ngos that will co-operate with TakeCare as local partners in the implementation of TakeCare’s project The Right to Empower: Empowerment and Capacity Building of NGOs to Protect and Promote human Rights. A total of 6 NGOs including NGOs from Maradhoo and Feydhoo took part in the meeting that was held at Community Organizations Centre.
